Security (or first things first)

I'm not sure what browser you are using to read these words or which site this is being read on. I do know that many blogging sites are infested with the worst sorts of ads though. I wouldn't mind ads all so much if they did not prove to be such a consistent source of malware. But here we are.

So I'd like to recommend a few addons or extensions that will hopefully make your time reading these posts easier and improve your overall web experiences. You will have likely heard of some of these already but if you have not yet installed these addons you are encouraged to do so now!

Ublock Origin. This addon is available for many browsers and its source code is available for auditing. It is literally the minimum you should have on your system if you use the web at all.

SponsorBlock. Also available across a spectrum of web browsers and its source code available for auditing, this addon allows crowd-sourced transparent skipping of in-video ads on YouTube. It's utility cannot be explained quite as well as seeing it in action. Definitely worth adding.

Return YouTube Dislike. Speaking of YouTube, this addon will nicely return the ability to give and to view dislikes on YouTube. Its source is available here.

Confused by Music Videos, part one

So I put on Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield again (because I love the song) but for the love of Mike, can someone, anyone please explain the video to me? As always it leaves me baffled. Is the boy upstairs her brother or her boyfriend, like David was to Darlene on Roseanne? (I know the video predates the tv show, it's just an example of a situation.) And the lyrics for the scenes don't exactly help make sense of things here either. Not too sure about that touching there given the uncertain relationship but the video has "Dad" telling her that if she leaves she can't come back so it's odd to think of it being a boyfriend in that circumstance, because wouldn't the boyfriend leave with her? What exactly are they fighting for? What is the battlefield in this case? Is she supposed to be a paid dancer in that bar\club she's in? Because honestly, she looks so excited to be there.
