It's funny. I always thought the future would end up being something more akin to Bandersnatch. Some form of interactive television with CYOA elements. This I didn't see coming at all.
Some of the potential was apparent with Nothing, Forever originally an AI generated infinitely generated show with some inspiration from Seinfeld's infamous show about nothing. While I'm not sure we'll ever know whether it was the show itself or the waiting for the AI to make a mistake and reveal itself to be sentient that drove viewership we'll never truly know. When there was a misconfiguration and the filters that kept the show friendly was left unchecked it created a gap which others were happy to move into.
And many did. There are all sorts of shows that stepped up to the plate to see if they could hit a home run during Nothing, Forever's forced hiatus. Some had this aspect or that aspect that made them very cool. ShowDojo's infinitely generated talking meatheads debating just about every kind of topic was a great tech demo. The talking sausages that helm that show actually interrupt each other. And it sounds natural. With some tooling I could easily see the software being used to create a completely AI radio show of sorts. It's that good.
But I find that the show I keep going back to, time and again, is How is it Manifested. A series that uses a more simple system. It's not plugged into 3D game engines, running characters in an uncanny valley, or a clunky environment that has them walking through walls and other things. What the series does is create a script from prompts and generate images to go along with that text. Combined with background music and the collection of Google's TTS voices it creates a cinematic feel. You submitted the prompt type. You are creating television.
It's all quite addictive. And that is why I think when more and more people hear about this series they're going to buy into it in a big big way.
